Red stag

The Red Stag Hunting in the Pyrenees

Stag stalking takes place in early autumn, from September 15 to late October.

It's a magical period when the cool morning air and shorter daylight hours trigger the stag rut.

It's at this time of year that the most beautiful stags decide to emerge from the depths of the forest to form their harem of hinds.

But, as it is surrounded by his sentinels, stalking the red stag isn't as easy as it may seem.

The red stag population here is large, and although their body size is smaller than in less rugged areas, trophies are still good. It is quite common to find red stags with 10, 12 or even 14 bodies.

The hunt itself is organized into two daily outings, one in the morning and the other in the evening, but it can also take place throughout the day, depending on the intensity of the rut.

The hunter is picked up at his accommodation and driven to the hunting area in the guide's vehicle.

The hunter and his guide then explore the area on foot.

The hunting areas are more or less easy to access and the level of difficulty will be adapted to the hunter's physical condition.

We offer accommodation to suit the hunter's schedule.

Lunch and dinner times are to be arranged with the accommodation owners.
